Description of
Work:
This is responsible work providing verbatim recording and
transcription of court proceedings using specialized equipment. The Court Reporter I reports
all proceedings in courts in order to create an accurate and verbatim
transcript of the proceedings. The
Court Reporter I remains current on the latest
technological advances in the field and new terminology that is offered in
felony cases such as DNA data, medical and psychological opinions in order to
increase speed and accuracy in work.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Manager, Court
Reporting Services.
Minimum Training
and Experience Required:
Associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of
college or vocational school education in computer operations, medical/legal
terminology, court reporting, paralegal or a closely related field. Two years
of related field experience, five years preferred; or
any equivalent combination of related training and experience in legal/court
reporting. Registered
Professional Reporter certificate from the National Court Reporters Association
(NCRA), or a Certified Verbatim Reporter’s certificate
from the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA) highly preferred. Real-time skills a plus.

$3,599.46 monthly; State Pay Grade 24
