Opinion 75-30
Canon 2B
Dear Judge:
You inquire as to the propriety of you, a circuit Judge, writing a voluntary
character reference letter on behalf of a person, now County Supervisor
applying for District Supervisor, Division of Youth Services. Further, you
advise that you have come in contact with the applicant in your official
capacity as a judge.
The Committee, without dissent, finds no impropriety inn your writing a character reference letter on behalf of a person, with whom you have had contact in your official capacity as a judge, applying for a promotion within the Division of Youth Services
Your very truly,
Gunter Stephenson, Chairman
Committee on Standards of Judicial Conduct
