ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. PI-CIR -97-88 S0797088

RE: THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF JURY DISTRICTS
FOR PINELLAS COUNTY

The Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, pursuant to Pinellas Administrative Order 76-62, adopted a resolution on October 26, 1976, creating a Northern Jury District for the Pinellas County Courthouse in Clearwater and a Southern Jury District for the Pinellas County Courthouse in St. Petersburg; and

Section 40.015, Fla. Stat., authorizes the Chief Judge, with the approval of a majority of the circuit court judges of the circuit, to create a jury district for each courthouse location from which persons to serve as jurors shall be selected in the manner presently provided by law; and

Effective January 1, 1998, the source from which the names of jurors are taken for jury services in Pinellas County shall be the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle database
whose address is in Pinellas County; and

A majority of the circuit judges of the Sixth Judicial Circuit have determined that it is in the best interest of the resident of Pinellas County, that the jury districts heretofore created by the Board of County Commissioners be retained. It is therefore,

ORDERED:
1. The Southern Jury District is hereby created to consist of the following zip codes:

3.Jurors called to serve in the St. Petersburg Judicial Building shall be selected from the Southern Jury District. Jurors called to serve in the Pinellas County Courthouse in Clearwater shall be selected from the Northern Jury District. Jurors called to serve in the Pinellas County Criminal Justice Center shall be selected from the combined Northern and Southern Jury Districts.

This Administrative order shall become effective January 1, 1998, at which time Administrative Order PI-CIR-97-9 and PI-CIR 97-86 are hereby rescinded.
