IN AND FOR PASCO COUNTY, FLORIDA

ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 96-6

RE: JAIL OVERCROWDING


FLA. STAT. §951.26 requires each board of county commissioners to establish a county public safety coordinating council for the county or join with councils of one or more other counties to establish a public safety coordinating council for the geographic area represented by the member counties; and

The chief judge of the circuit or other designated circuit court judge, and the county administrative judge or other designated county court judge are required by statute to be appoionted as members of the council along with the state attorney or designated assistant state attorney, the public defender or designated assistant public defender, a state probation circuit administrator, law enforcement representatives and others; and

The council meets at the call of the chairperson to assess the population status of all detention or correctional facilities owned or contracted by the county, and to formulate recommendations or ensure that the authorized capacities of such facilities as established by the Department of Corrections are not exceeded; and

Because a council has been established in Pasco County; it is therefore

ORDERED:

Administrative Order No. 91-60 regarding jail overcrowding is hereby rescinded.
