ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 2008-083 PI-CIR

RE:     AFTER HOURS PROCEDURES FOR DATING, DOMESTIC, REPEAT, AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE INJUNCTIONS IN PINELLAS COUNTY

Due to continuing budget constraints, the regular hours for obtaining a dating, domestic, repeat, or sexual violence injunction in Pinellas County must be modified.  When litigants arrive at the Courthouse after 4:00 p.m. seeking an injunction, it usually results in overtime expenditures for the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Sheriff of Pinellas County, and increases operating costs for the county, because staff and the judge must remain after 5:00 p.m.  After consulting with the Clerk, the Sheriff, domestic violence advocates, and other stakeholders, it was agreed that the best way to address this budgetary concern was to utilize the after hours procedures beginning at 4:00 p.m. on regular work days.

Accordingly,

IT IS ORDERED:

            1.         Effective January 1, 2009, for purposes of implementing the after hours procedures for dating, domestic, repeat, and sexual violence injunctions in Pinellas County, after hours means after 4:00 p.m. or before 8:00 a.m. on a regular work day, or at anytime during a holiday or weekend day.

            2.         Anyone appearing at a Pinellas County Clerk’s office seeking an injunction after 4:00 p.m. on a regular work day should be informed of the procedures to seek an injunction after hours as provided for in Administrative Order 2007-33 PA/PI-CIR.  The petitioner shall also be advised that the petition can be processed the following business day.

All other terms and conditions of Administrative Order 2007-33 PA/PI-CIR remain in full force and effect.
