RE:  appointment of court accessibility teamS

 

            The Honorable R. Fred Lewis, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida has resolved to improve access to Florida courts for persons with disabilities.  To that end, Chief Justice Lewis had promulgated a plan entitled Access to the Courts for Persons with Disabilities: Renewing the Judicial Branch Commitment (hereinafter referred to as “the plan”), which is a comprehensive plan designed to survey current court facility conditions, develop action plans to increase court accessibility, and provide training to court personnel with regard to issues of court access.

 

            In order to begin surveying current court facilities around the state, Chief Justice Lewis has directed the Chief Judge of each Circuit Court to appoint a Court Accessibility Team (hereinafter referred to as “the team”).  The Chief Justice requires that certain members of the community in Pasco and Pinellas Counties be on the team.  The public officials named below have agreed to participate on these teams. 

 

In an effort to reduce any unnecessary travel, time, and expense associated with participation on the team, there will be two teams: one each for Pasco County and Pinellas County.  Accordingly, and in order to comply with the directive from Chief Justice Lewis, it is hereby

 

ORDERED:

 

1.      The following people are appointed to serve as the Pasco County Court Accessibility Team:

 

a.       Judge David A. Demers, Chief Judge, co-chair, through June 30, 2007.

 

b.      Judge Robert J. Morris, Jr., Chief Judge-elect, co-chair, beginning July 1, 2007.

 

c.       John J. Gallagher, County Administrator, co-chair, or Daniel R. Johnson, Assistant County Administrator.

 

d.      Gay Inskeep, Trial Courts Administrator.

 

e.       B. Elaine New, Court Counsel.

 

f.        Barbara DeSimone, Personnel Director and County ADA Coordinator.

 

g.       Frank James, County Facilities Management Director.

 

h.       Paula O’Neil, Chief Deputy Clerk, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

 

i.         Rosalyn Fenton, Court Services Director, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

 

j.        Karen Gatto, Director of Administrative Services and ADA Coordinator.

 

k.      Kerry Rice, Senior Deputy Courts Administrator, Pasco County.

 

l.         Stephanie LoBalbo, Budget Analyst/Facilities Coordinator, Administrative Office of the Courts.

 

m.     Holly Swanson, Architect, Urban Studio Architects.

 

n.       Barbara Page, Senior Advocate/Investigator, Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities, Inc. 

 

2.      The following people are appointed to serve as the Pinellas County Court Accessibility Team:
