Pretrial Conference Policy Changes: Due
to the misuse of requesting continuances, effective February
1, 2003, the following procedures shall be followed by all persons
requesting a continuance of a pretrial conference.
1. A continuance WILL NOT BE GRANTED unless the State Attorney has given this Court an oral response
of "no objection". |
| 2. Once the request has been made
from the attorney to my office, a fax or mailed Motion and Order
may be submitted to this Court. The new date for a trial or motions
must be approved by the State and inserted in the order. Do not
ask the court clerk for a new date. |
| 3. Generally a continuance WILL
AUTOMATICALLY BE GRANTED if the attorney has not received
discovery, has just been retained or is in trial scheduled for
the same day. |
| 4. All attorneys and clients must
appear unless they fall under the above. At that time the case
shall be set for trial or a plea entered. Oral request by another
attorney will not be granted unless previously approved by the
Court or State Attorney. |
| 5. The State will start speaking
with attorneys at 12:30pm and will not be available after 1:30pm.
Court will begin at 1:30pm, so please try to communicate with
the State prior to the pretrial date. |
