Technology Office

The Courts Technology Office of the Administrative Office of the Courts is responsible for the planning, implementation, support and training for all court technology.  The department’s staff of fifteen evaluates new technology for purchase, trains staff, develops custom applications, repairs, installs and relocates equipment as needed.  This includes computers, communication, applications, video and audio, Internet and Intranet support.  This office also acts as the liaison to the Information Technology Departments in both Pasco and Pinellas counties and the Florida Supreme Court Justice Data Center.

Information Systems

The Courts Technology Office supports a wide area network connecting the seven court locations in Pasco and Pinellas counties.  This network provides electronic mail, file sharing, Internet access, mainframe access, printer and resource sharing to over three hundred personal computers circuit wide in courtrooms and offices.  Technical assistance and training is provided on mainframe and personal computer software and hardware.

Courtroom Technology

The circuit has available, audio/visual equipment for the presentation of multimedia based evidence at all locations within the circuit.  This equipment consists of both built-in and mobile equipment and includes items such as projectors, screens, plasma displays, document cameras, VCR/DVD players and laptop interfacing equipment.  These systems allow litigants to present various forms of multimedia based documentation and evidence such as PowerPoint presentations, video depositions, electronic documents, security video and other multimedia based information in the courtrooms.  All of the equipment is available at no charge on a first come, first served basis.  Some systems and equipment will require training prior to usage, and training is available for all the equipment provided by the Sixth Judicial Circuit.  A minimum of forty eight hour notification is required to reserve any equipment.

To reserve AV equipment, schedule training or discuss your presentation needs, please call the Court Technology Office-Video Operations at (727) 453-7928.

Videoconference Technology

The Video Operations section provides circuit-wide design, maintenance and support for advanced video conferencing technologies.  Videoconference hearings to the Circuits two detention facilities have been taking place since the mid 1980’s, saving the community thousands of dollars in transportation costs, and an immeasurable reduction in the security risks associated with the transport of inmates.  The systems can also be used for remote testimony to any of the Circuits 57 courtrooms.  Use of this technology during trials can substantially reduce the travel and lodging expense to the Courts, taxpayers and litigants.  The Circuit has done remote videoconferences during trial from locals of Afghanistan, Australia, Germany, India, and throughout the USA.

Contact the Court Technology Office/Video Operations Office at (727) 453-7928 for additional information, and to reserve equipment or schedule a conference.

Coordination of these events can be complicated; a minimum of five business days notice is required.

Internet & Intranet

The Sixth Judicial Circuit was one of the first circuits in Florida to install and maintain a web site.  Internet and Intranet servers are used to provide information to Judges, Judicial Assistants, staff and the public. New information is constantly being added to support our users and inform the public.
